Presentation Evening 2022

The 2022 season drew to a close with Badgers celebrating more league successes as well as a host of individual accolades at their annual presentation evening. The club will head to Leicester Tigers Rugby next month to collect their third successive LRRL men’s league title to add to the Derby Runner league cross-country title they won in the winter.

At Baddesley Club on Saturday night, new Captain for 2023 Mark Cox picked up the coveted Badger of the Year award after a stunning season where he scored vital points for the team in the league, set a host of personal bests and became a member of the sub-three marathon club with an epic run in Manchester back in the Spring. His performance in the UTMB ultra race in France scooped the performance of the year, back-to-back titles in this category for the Stoke Golding dad.

Rob Crow was well rewarded for a brilliant season. He ran seven personal bests over as many distances, setting a club record in the process too but it was his work off the field that won him the most acclaim, picking up gongs for Run Leader of the Year, Runner’s Badger and the Unsung Hero award.

Fellow Blues fan Mick Bailey was awarded club role model of the year in addition to his outstanding performance honour at cross country. Laura Starkey was a deserved winner of Newcomer of the year and Paul Cooper picked up the most improved male with Megan Griffiths doing the same for the ladies. Long-serving Leesa Dennis won the Chairperson’s special recognition trophy. A full list of winners is below.
