Parking
CAR SHARING ESSENTIAL – There will be strict parking rules and would therefore ask that all runners please allow time to get themselves and their children if running to the event. We have been granted a designated Car Park and are not allowed into any other areas (Parking will be £2.50 per car (money collected upon entry – please have the correct change available and within easy reach) and will allow you to stay all day at the center should you wish to).
IMPORTANT NOTE: ALL 4x4s are required to park on the grassed areas or will be asked to turned away (NO EXCEPTIONS)!
Course
The course will be run around the car park area and surrounding woodland and fields.
Junior race approx. 10.30am, one or two laps of field and wood depending on age - 1 & 2 Mile
Main Race
Start 11am (This will NOT be a split start race so please be aware of this)
5.1 miles approximately. The course is a mixture of fields, tracks, muddy trails and woods with wet areas. There are 2 small tarmac sections back up by the car park and numerous tree stumps, roots and a few fallen trees in the woods.
Sadly, the infamous Bosworth Bog, prolific consumer of shoes we all swore were tied on tightly, has had to be removed as it has become so boggy it is more suited to the Bog Snorkeling championships than a XC race, although we will review the situation in the hope it dries out sufficiently to claim a few more victims….
Footwear
Spikes, or ‘off-road’ shoes would be suitable (Trainers will be a struggle)
Toilets
Toilets are available in the Battlefield Heritage Centre – cardboard will be put down to maintain cleanliness – however, please be courteous to Battlefield Centre visitors and do not use these if you are very muddy! Please do NOT use the toilets opposite the restaurant – this is at the request of the Battlefield Centre. 3 x Portaloos will also be available on the field near the tent and finish area.
